The ceremony, attended by over 400 people including HD Hyundai leaders and key partners, marked the progress of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment’s Advancement Project, a $146 million USD investment since 2023 to revamp its Ulsan plant into a smart factory. This project merged two plants into one, expanding production lines, building new facilities, and integrating advanced technologies like welding robots, AI inspection, and unmanned transport vehicles to boost automation, efficiency, and quality. These upgrades are expected to improve labor productivity by 20%, reduce product completion time by 35%, and increase annual production capacity for excavators and wheel loaders by 56%, from 9,600 to 15,000 units. The Ulsan Campus is set to become a global “Mother Plant,” strengthening ties with overseas affiliates. Chairman Kwon Oh-gap highlighted the factory’s role in becoming a world-leading, sustainable production hub, while CEO Choi Cheol-gon emphasized the factory’s enhanced competitiveness and commitment to next-generation construction machinery.
