HD Construction Equipment Hyundai North America has enhanced its articulated dump truck product line with the newly updated Hyundai HA45 and HA30 models, offering best-in-class ground clearance and ground bearing pressure, superior torque at low engine RPM, and superior power and traction.

The Hyundai articulated dump trucks are built with the operator in mind – from an air- conditioned and heated cab that boosts operator performance, comfort, and safety, to the new “auto squat” feature that lowers the truck’s front end for easy entry and exit. Other key operator performance features include an eye-level 12-1/2-inch, tablet-style, multi-function, touchscreen monitor; a redesigned adjustable, heated air-suspension seat; larger front and side windows for improved views; and a backup (rearview) camera system for better jobsite visibility and safety.

High performance in a compact design

With rated payloads of 45 and 30 tons, respectively, the Hyundai HA45 and HA30 articulated dump trucks are well matched for working with large crawler excavators and wheeled loaders. Hyundai’s updated ADTs are designed primarily for high-volume earthmoving projects, highway construction, and mine and quarry operations. They provide maximum drive and traction in nearly any conditions, maintaining year-round productivity.

The Hyundai articulated dump trucks feature a front-mounted differential and transmission that make them the most compact ADTs in their size classes, with an outer turning radius of just 27 ft. 7 in. and 25 ft. 2 in. for the HA45 and HA30, respectively, while retaining superior overall stability.

“Feedback from the field verifies the improved HA45 truck’s high performance, reliability, and operator enhancement features,” said Joe Hodges, product manager, HD Construction Equipment Hyundai North America. “Operators give high grades to the HA45 cab upgrades, including the improved visibility, low noise levels, seating comfort, and accessibility of the touchscreen monitor and other controls.”

Another new feature that addresses both performance and safety is the auto brake-hold system, which holds the machine in neutral and automatically releases the brakes when shifting into drive.

The trucks’ enhanced design also improves serviceability, enabling fuel and grease (for the auto-lube system) to be filled from ground level, along with easy access to filters and oil filling points. The tiltable cabs feature self-positioning locking mechanisms for improved safety and engine compartment access.

The Hyundai HA45 ADT has a rated payload of 90,389 lb., an operating weight of 66,359 lb., and maximum torque of 1,750 lb-ft. A six-cylinder Scania DC13 T4F diesel engine delivers 489 net horsepower without a diesel particulate filter. The powertrain features a ZF 8EP-420 automatic transmission with 8 forward and 4 reverse speeds.

The standard 12-1/2-inch touchscreen monitor provides an uncluttered look at machine data, status updates, settings, and camera views. It displays real-time operational readings of speed, RPMs, fuel and DEF levels and consumption rates, plus engine and hydraulic-oil temperature.

Other advanced functions viewable live on the monitor include the payload measuring system, which displays the weight of each load to optimize loading, and the gradient meter, which monitors incline and pitch for increased safety and tip prevention.

Hyundai includes five years of free access to its Hyundai Connect mobile app. This proprietary, GPS-based remote management system enables users to remotely evaluate machine performance, access diagnostic and maintenance schedules and records, and verify machine locations.

Hyundai’s industry-leading standard warranty provides 3-year/3,000-hour coverage and 5- year/10,000-hour structural coverage. An optional extended warranty program, Hyundai Extend, is also available.
