Rusty Mock, Owner of Micro Construction in Baltimore, OH, started business in 2005 as an excavating company which soon grew into a large roll off dumpster, driveway construction, and on-site demolition service. Micro also provides material recycling with concrete, asphalt, and aggregate products. In a recent Hyundai interview, Rusty explained why he chose a Hyundai HL960 wheel loader for his business.
“The Hyundai Edge to me is ‘operator happiness.’ We run the HL960 loader 8 hours a day in a severe, dusty environment. Our operators are especially happy with the performance of Hyundai’s air-conditioning system, ergonomic controls, and easy to adjust air-ride seats,” says Rusty.
“The Hyundai HL960 wheel loader is very intuitive in keeping a level grade, which makes things easier. The joystick controls work in the cab for me just like I want them to on the outside of the cab. The air conditioning works really well, even when it’s super dusty. Non-operators don’t think about that, but it’s like 80% of an issue with a machine for the air conditioner not to work properly,” says Chad, one of Micro’s loader operators.
Rusty’s son Russel is also impressed with the Hyundai’s HL960 Wheel Loader. When he turns 16, he plans to become an operator for his Dad.
“I’m only 10 years old, and I learned how to operate our HL960. I like operating the machine because the seats are very comfortable and it has plenty of power,” says Russel.
The HL960 wheel loader is Micro’s first Hyundai construction equipment purchase.
“We started out looking for a loader at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in 2017 where we could get a close up and personal look at the different loader brands. After CONEXP-CON/AGG, we connected with our local Hyundai dealer, Reco Equipment in Columbus, OH, and they brought out a HL960 for a demo.
We were impressed with Reco Equipment, and the standard features Hyundai includes that competitor brands don’t. After demoing it a week, we decided to buy it,” says Rusty.
The Hyundai loader is an important piece in our equipment lineup. It’s a great mid sized loader because it does a dual purpose in handling all our material needs. It feeds the plants on sizing our aggregate for resale, and also loads the aggregate back up on to the customers vehicles. We don’t have too many passes to load the big trucks with the 4-yard bucket, and yet it’s small enough to not scare away your ‘weekend warrior’.
“We purchased the HL960 loader brand new because we wanted the 3-YR/3,000 HR standard / 5-YR/10,000 HR structural warranty. Parts and pieces are very expensive when it comes to big equipment, and Hyundai offers a great warranty,” says Rusty.
