Professionals can use a variety of tools and machinery to accomplish land clearing, but it’s hard to beat the speed and power of a Hyundai HX140LC Excavator with Cummins engine and Denis Cimaf Cutter attachment. Smaller trees can be mulched down from the top while they are still standing, leaving only biodegradable mulch left behind.
Winsco Land Clearing has been serving North and South Carolina since 2017 for land clearing, right-of-way forestry mulching, and roadside maintenance. They recently purchased a Hyundai HX140LC from May Heavy Equipment, then added a boom-mounted Denis Cimaf DAH100 Cutter attachment.
Hyundai marketing recently interviewed Mark Miller, owner of Winsco Land Clearing, on a job site where he was using his new equipment to clear small trees and shrubbery for the development of a new parking lot.
“We got a bucket, dozer blade, hydraulic thumb, and Denis Cimaf Mulcher with tilt. It’s a very powerful machine with good compact size feel to work in the woods with, which is mainly what we do,” Mark commented.
“Working with our Hyundai dealer, May Heavy Equipment, was very seamless… they got the entire thing put together for me all in one shot,” Mark said. The HX140LC is very quiet in the cab. In comparison to competitor machines, the hydraulics are smooth with the controls, drivability, and flow to the implement. I’m very excited to have this excavator. I’m one of the first people to get an HX140 with a Cummins engine in it, and it definitely proves the power. Cummins is the biggest name when it comes to heavy equipment or all things diesel. May Heavy Equipment, my local Hyundai dealer, is very close by, and they have Cummins certified technicians on hand. I know I can depend on this engine if I ever need service, it’ll be taken care of quickly,” Mark continued.
Adding the Denis Cimaf cutter to the boom of the HX140LC Cummins powered excavator creates a forestry mulching machine with optimal reach.
“The HX140LC has a lot of power, a lot of torque, and with the mulcher hooked up, it can take all the trees down that we need,” said Michael Miller, operator.
“The dozer push blade was a huge selling feature for me. Now I can backfill anything that I’ve dug up when I’m taking out stumps on a land clearing project, plus I like how it stabilizes the machine when you anchor it down on the ground,” Mark stated.
“I think one of my favorite pieces of equipment to run is going to be the Hyundai excavator. It’s a lot bigger than most competitor machines. The interior cab and air-ride suspension seat are really comfortable, the air conditioning works really good, and I’m impressed with the surround sound system – it rides like a Cadillac,” Michael commented.
“A really cool feature this machine has besides the awesome Cummins engine is access to Hyundai’s Hi MATE technology. Anywhere all day, every day, I have peace of mind knowing where my machine is, how it is operating, and whether it is running or not, which helps reduces fuel consumption and ownership cost,” Mark remarked.
“I’ve owned a lot of competitor machines and I feel like I really have an edge on my competition now when it comes to the forestry mulching and land clearing industry, ” Mark added.
